Finding Your Rate
Anti-Oppressive Rate Scale
My standard fee for individual therapy is $250 per session. I also hold a small number of reduced-fee spots for clients who could not otherwise access care at that rate.
If you're one of those clients, or we're talking about whether you might be, this is meant to help you get oriented — not to hand you a fixed number. There's no formula that captures a person's actual financial reality. This is a starting point for a conversation we can have together, adapted from a framework by Kenya Crawford / Cultivating Healers.
The Range
Full Cost — $250. What a session actually costs.
Sustain — around $185–190. A modest reduction for real, but not severe, financial strain.
Solidarity — around $125. A more substantial reduction.
Reparations — as low as $0. For the least financial access. I hold one fully-waived spot at a time.
These aren't hard lines. What matters more than landing on the "right" number is that it's one you can actually sustain — not the lowest one you can talk yourself into, and not one that stretches you thin every month.
Questions To Sit With
There's no scoring system that spits out your rate. These are here to help you see your own situation more clearly — including things people often underestimate or overlook about their own access.
Are you and your family homeowners or landowners? (This doesn't apply if you're Native or Indigenous.)
Have you attended private education institutions, or do you hold an advanced degree?
Are you able to make minimum payments on bills or credit cards?
Have you been able to easily access and afford health insurance for yourself and your family?
Do you have little to no debt, and/or disposable income?
Do you have a financially stable or wealthy safety net of family or friends?
Do you have U.S. citizenship?
Does your income only need to support you — not other people who depend on you?
Have you inherited, or do you expect to inherit, money or property?
Did you attend, or could you have attended, college or graduate school?
Mostly "yes" tends to point toward Full Cost or Sustain. Mostly "no" tends to point toward Solidarity or Reparations. If you're unsure where you land, that's exactly what we'll talk through together.
